Legal
Privacy Policy
ThermoFluid Studio is built to keep your work on your own computer. This policy explains the limited data involved in selling and licensing the Software.
1. Your project data stays local
Your project files and all engineering calculations are stored and run on your own computer. We do not upload, collect, store, or process your models, project files, or results. There is no cloud project storage and no server-side solving.
2. What we (and our providers) do collect
- Purchase and billing information. When you subscribe, our payment processor, Stripe, Inc., collects and processes your payment details, billing contact, and applicable tax information under its own privacy policy. We receive order and subscription status, your purchaser email, and license information — not your full card number.
- License activation information. To validate your subscription, the Software sends to our license service: your purchaser email, license key, and a randomly generated installation identifier (not a hardware serial). The request identifies the ThermoFluid Studio app and version. We use this only to confirm entitlement, enforce the current limit of up to three installation identifiers per subscription, and prevent abuse. We do not use hardware fingerprints as the primary identifier.
- Optional crash reports. If — and only if — you opt in, a future version of the Software may offer to send anonymous diagnostic information about a crash, such as the version, an error fingerprint, and a stack trace. The current v0.6.1 release does not send crash reports. Any future reporting must be designed to exclude project content and remain off unless enabled.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information.
- We do not show advertising in the Software.
- We do not track your activity inside the Software beyond what license validation requires.
- We do not collect your project files or engineering data.
4. Retention and your rights
We retain license and order records as needed to operate the subscription, meet legal and tax obligations, and support you. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, and you may cancel at any time through the customer portal. Some records must be retained where law requires, for example tax records held by the seller or payment processor.
5. Third parties
The main third parties involved are the payment processor, Stripe, for checkout and billing, and Cloudflare for website hosting, downloads, and license validation. Each processes data under its own terms and privacy policy.
6. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted with a new effective date.
